"Our Spanish is perpetually rusty, but we’ve been paying attention to
work published by younger writers in Tijuana and Baja California,
because it is wildly innovative and socially astute. Consider Editorial Piedra Cuervo–or
Stone Crow Editions, as we translate it–a small independent press in
Rosarito, just south of Tijuana. Their books are typically handmade
editions of poetry, prose and as-yet-undeffined genres. We’re
particularly keen on Gidi Loza’s Desollada: Visiones Crónicas. Ensayando a Gertrude Stein, Lyn Hejinian, Kathy Acker y Juliana Spahr, which we translate as Flayed: Chronic Visions. Rehearsing Gertrude Stein, Lyn Hejinian, Kathy Acker and Juliana Spahr."
